Polyunsaturated verses saturated index as a reference for determining the quality of edible seed oils extracted from locally cultivated oil seeds of Ethiopia

Consumption of edible oils is increasing tremendously regardless their high prices. As a result, the global production vegetable has also been growing constantly. This may be related to population growth and associated demands consumers. In this particular work, ten crude food seed Ethiopian origin were extracted in our lab analyzed for chemical composition by gas chromatography mass spectroscopy (gc-ms). To check quality, P/S index all laboratory compared. The fatty acids (fas) concentrations determined using decanoic acid methyl ester as internal standard linoleic ethyl reference. analysis results indicate that 8.19 safflower (sff), 2.58 sesame (ses), 4.37 Niger (nig), 5.50 Linseed (lns), 2.04 peanut (pnt), 5.13 mustard (etm) 4.25 sunflower (suf), 0.09 palm (pal), 3.14 soybean (sob), 1.56 cotton (cot). maximum minimum obtained SFF oil (8.19) pal (0.09), respectively. Analysis mixtures commercial lns improvement quality mixing them an appropriate ratio.
